Car - 2002 Acura TL 3.2 Silver with only 67K miles...yes I only drive on Weekends


Went through the threads on the forum and can't seem to find the fix to my problem. Tried the reset trick via holding the down button for 5+ seconds and then up again.

Checked to see the Window and it is still on Track etc...

Basically this is the third time this has happened and my Window won't go up .

First time this happened my windows were rolling/going down shaky as in I can see the window stutter. So I let go of the switches and then press the switches again. The windows would then work normally (all windows)

second time - About 1 month since the first incident, All windows were down and it started to rain. I pressed/pull the switches up. The windows were rolling up slowly and shaky. Started to freak out due to how the rain started to pour heavier. About 15 minutes of driving and looking for shade while playing with the buttons, surfing Google for an answer on the cell. The reset feature worked. Held the Driver side switched down for a while and then all windows decided to work properly again.

Today - Only had driver side window down. After I parked my car, the window went up slowly and shaky... Let of the switch and accidentally press the switch down again. Window went down smooth and fine...but won't go back up again.

Played with the buttons, tried the reset method and nothing works. After 20 minutes of playing with switches, all my windows don't work. Then 30 minutes after the other windows work, just not the driver side :angry:.

I can hear the click sound when all windows are down and I press the switch down.

When the windows crap out and my windows are up, I can hear a squeal noise when I hold the switch up.


Currently have the car at my Mechanics and all he can suggest is to swap out everything...

Chances are that your main switches on the driver's door have been compromised by water.

 

After a month of swapping out parts and testing to see what the problem is, it was actually the window ECU that was broken.

Were you able to test the bad ECU or just by swapping? I hate to buy a new ECU which is not returnable because its electronic according to the dealer.

ck auto dismantler (junkyards) for the door ecu (multiplex is other name iirc)

Is your problem one window or all of them?

Rain gets right into the door switch when door open
Water gets down into door via bad window to door seal

Also ck the drains on bottom of door, water gets stuck inside = bad things happen
That may narrow your search for problem down if you find one of those things happening
