My belts have been squeeking lately and they possibly are slipping, It is hard for me to determine which. Tension to me feels good, but then again I don't really know how tight they need to be or if they are too tight. I do not have a belt ensioner to test them. also this has been happening off and on for 4-5 months. more off than on but it needs to be fixed. This started 1 week after I got my UR crank and alternator pulleys put on. When I hear this sound it seems as if my car doesn't performance as well and drivers rougher. acceleration is not as strong and crisp, the throttle feels stiffer and I have to press down a little harder for my car to pick up. Are these symptons related to loose or slipped drive belts?

I already NAPA belt dressing which is basically a conditioner and it didn't help it. It actually seemed like it made it worse. After I sprayed on some belt dressing the squeeling noise got a little louder. It's been going on 6 days now that my belts have been making this sound. Do you guys think I need new belts, also on my performance questions do you think those could be stemming from my belts?

 

get new belts! and clean the pullies off really well before puting new ones on
