What is this and why is it ticking?

I'm pretty sure this is what is making a ticking noise.

It seems to start about 20 seconds after the engine starts.

Why is it ticking?
Can I leave it or is it a big deal?
How much will this cost?
Can I do this myself?

What is this part?
Are there two different parts? or is is just one?

Thanks in advance.

You're pointing at your master cylinder. It's actually the purge valve solenoid that is ticking.

You can ignore it, or replace it. New one might tick too, though.

It's that black box at the top of the first picture.

I found a pretty good thread over on the CL thread...actually, the DYI thread here points you to a not so usefull thread...but the one below worked for me.

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/purge-solenoid-valve-gas-mileage-478374/

I checked online
everybody had i for around $80
My local dealer had it for $60

Replaced mine with new when I first noticed it.

New one ticks, but only during winter. Wish there was a more solid fix
