VSA intrusion on throttle tip in-no wheel spin
About a month ago I noticed that the ABS pump cycles and the VSA light flashes if I apply any minor amount of throttle from a stop.
If I let it move from idle then gently apply throttle, it is OK, but from a stop I get the pump and VSA.
Guessing a wheel speed sensor is going.
As a side note, there is no traction loss or wheel spin. It happens in the dry in the wet, pretty much getting more consistent.
Any help or thought appreciated.

now thats an interesting problem!!
I would stop by the parts store for a free code reading, see if wheel speed sensor come up
If that doesnt reveal anything, a specialty `brakes only` shop who know everything about abs probs- will have a different scanner, made just to interrogate and diagnose abs probs
probably have to pay for them to diagnose-- and a repair there/ or diy decision can be made

Nothing with regard to a CEL or MIL, but will drop by and see if there is a thrown code.
Otherwise I can only assume the computer is getting bad data from a bad sensor.
Will look around for a specialty brake shop, as the chains are horrendous.

the corp run stores have daily weekly monthly quotas and will overdiagnose a problem - and still not fix the original issue!
If you have a feeling the prob is a speed sensor, go with your gut!
was work done on the brakes recently.. when a caliper could have caused damage to wire?
Or went thru some serious puddles? Tx is underwater recently in the news
Anything you remember just before this started happening??
ck phone book under Brakes, might be a sub section of auto repair and service
or internet search for `brake repair` and your city,,
not all small shops have a website
older guys dont care about it- they just run newspaper ad and phone book
and fix brakes.
I talked to one when stumped on another car- he said- we can figure it out,
flush/bleed the system no matter what type- activate ABS modulator to clean it too etc,,
It will come home with a good brake pedal- good brakes![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What more can you ask!

I say interesting problem- based on the typical thread and 1 millionth time someone ask how to clean the egr ports or cant understand the seafoam diy
This one should bring out the real acura techs and our super gurus of brakes!
I can give you basics on it, but ABS is not my area of expertise
Might be nothing more than road salt/age/debris killed a front wheel speed sensor, no sweat easy fix!
have you tested ABS in the wet or gravel and tell its really working?
if speed sensor bad- no abs action

call acura care 1 800 382 2238x5 need cars VIN
ask if any recalls `open` on your car,,
I remember some had brake related issues but have no details,,have to do the research yourself on this one~
ck for TSB for your year online, technical service bulletins are made for techs to do fast diagnose on odd problems- techs find a problem and submit the fix to corp for distribution to the techs info sharing network,,saves time = money
There may be one on the abs modulator
ken what do you know?

I am with you on the EGR and other "normal" type of DIY's that most just don;t do the easy search on.

Finally sot around to testing the ABS, and lo, nothing.
Guessing it is either a bad sensor or the sensor could be crudded up. Was reading in the S2000 forum about how after autox and track you can put off enough metal shaving attached to the magnet to corrupt the feed.
Will clean then replace if needed.
Just wanted to update, will follow up when done.
Thanks again for the info.

Im guessing there is a sensor that is misreading? Does it do it every time you take off? Or is it just a random occurrence?

Probably 50-70% of the time. That goes up with increased throttle/less than gentle tip in, (no wheel spin) ex starting uphill. It seems like increased load in 1st is when it occurs. Nothing in any other gear.

Its traction control thats kicking in and on the TL that basically stops working after 15mph or something like that. My guess is still a wheel speed sensor. Problem is is locating which one it is. Especially without it throwing a code. You will have to visually inspect them and the wiring and see if you can locate anything that stands out.
