Very rough start when hot

When I start the car after it has just been running for a while, the car wants to die. The idle goes down to around 500RPM and pressing the gas doesnt do anything much. I just changed the spark plugs, the EGR was cleaned 10k miles ago, cleaned fuel injectors not too long ago. I think i might have a bad coil but.....im still getting 30mpg...

The car also runs fine after it stop stuttering, its only on start up..

I have no place to get codes looked up

p.s. I just had my transmission rebuilt

I had similar problem and a new battery fixed it; also, cleaning out the throttle did help, make sure dont let the crud run down to the iac valve. dirty egr could be the problem too.

could be torque convertor problem inside the trans
what spark plugs did you use
if it surged 800-1500 I would go with dirty IACV
No vac lines loose or bad ends?

the trans shop should have a code reader and want to make sure its not something they need to address under trans warranty

Just a thought that might help, but won't hurt and is good maintenance anyways. Get a can of Amsoil Power Foam or Seafoam Deep Creeper and start you car with the intake off and spray it directly into your throttle body while pulling on the throttle cable lightly so your car doesn't cut out. Let it sit for 25mins and take it for a spirited run. You may have your problem solved for cheap as it could be a very sticky TB butterfly. When I read the first line my first thought was a clogged EGR valve. IAC valves usually effect you at all times not just when your car is warm. Are you throwing any DTC's?

I used the NGK Iridiums, it didnt surge, it would start and sit erratically at 500rpm untill would finally calm down. None that I can hear or see.

I will take it back to the shop next weekend hopefully if I cant get it fixed.
