Valve adjustments 2002 TL-S

I had my timing belt replaced today and they suggested I also have my valve adjusted for a mere $475.00 I didn't think there was any valve adjustments on these cars?? Am I missing something??

Thanks

depending on the miles and if u hear any ticking noises u might need the valves adjusted.

Thanks,
How difficult a job is it to check and adjust the valves?

about 5-7 hrs depending on your experience and tool availability. i did mine but it took longer bc i went out and had the valve covers painted and had to watch some shows on tv .

its less time when they are doing the timing belt

Always a good idea to have done at 105, most cars are finding a few valves out of adjustment- putting them back in spec raises gas mileage and improves performance

If you're able do it yourself and pocket the $475. It's about $50 in tools if you dont have them already.

wait a minute..they wanted $475 for just a valve adjustment?? WTF??

Even one of the ripoff dealerships here in ATL was only going to charge $199 for it...my mechanic did my timing belt service with all OEM new parts, valve adjustment, flushed p/s fluid, and put on two new accessory belts for $591 out the door.
