Valve adjustment problem

After I did my timing belt on 03 Acura tl, it started with a knocking sound. Then I thought maybe is time to the valve adjustment, too. So I opened it up, and I found out the no1 valve is way to loose. I took the arm out and found out the spring on no 1 valve is way lower than the others. Is that normal? If it's not how do I fix that?

Thanks a head.

Hey Yo90yo, was the engine making that knocking sound before installing the new T-belt ?
If not, ya may want to recheck the T-belt positioning @ TDC before adjusting the valves.
Check some other posts, perhaps the belt slipped a tooth ?

Thanks for the post. The engine was fine, before. we rechecked the timing, too. That's why we thought it might be the valves. Some of the valves were lose as we did the valves adjustment. Only the no 1 valve, we left it alone. Because we don't sure why the gap is so much when it's at TDC.

Hang loose, maybe someone else with more experience can chime in to help ya.

Being the weekend, not many people are on the site.

No it's not normal. It's almost always caused by a bent valve(s).

Yeah, didn't think that it appeared normal. I guess that explains the knocking. Bummer, man.

Do a compression check. The likely reason for the springs being compressed is bent valves. Compression will be way low on a cylinder with bent valves

If it wasnt noisy before i would have to say your timing had to be off and you bent the valves. There is no way it was like that before and now with a new timing belt it started making noise. A new vs old belt would have nothing to do with that

remove spark plug and ck for contact damage
its the exhaust valve that gets hit but plug might too?
compression test will confirm
not that big a deal to pull the head(s)....or a motor swap??
