Oil Leaking

Before anything, I did wash my oil pan my last oil change because it was dirty, and i wanted to see if it would be wet with oil again. Sure enough there was oil, not a lot of oil, but enough to be bothersome.

I checked the filter for leaks-none
Drain bolt had oil, sides of the oil pan had oil w/dirt, so it was black gunk, as you can see in the pictures.

I thought it would only be a washer problem, but apparently it isn't so.
There is also oil on my tranny, same gunk in the pictures.
What would be the best solution to fix this??? Would there be any additives that would actually stop it? I remember reading a thread on here talking about fixing an oil leak with such a product, but can't seem to find it.

Lastly, where should the tranny fluid be on the dipstick?

Not sure about your oil leak (I eventually had to replace the VTEC solenoid gasket--the one with the filter built in. You take your oil filter neck off. There's like three bolts that hold it on), so it could be that. As far as your trans fluid.....not near that high! Used to be there was a procedure to checking trans fluid...something like it had to be operating temp to measure properly on the dipstick. I don't think that's the case with ours. The fluid should be right at the higher dot on the dipstick. Let the car cool of and check it again.

As for your leak? Too hard to tell from your pics. It could be a number of things. From the pan gasket to the oil pump gasket, to crank seal. You need to try to narrow it down a little more.

try the ATP AT-205 Re-Seal Stops Leaks. go to amazon and read the product review and you will see quite a few Acura TL users have quite good experiences with it. I used 2 bottles and it stopped leaks completely in a few days (though not sure the leak was from engine, tranny).

I always understood warm up procedure to be 15 minutes freeway cruise from cold
level park- engine off- trans in Park
level should read BETWEEN the dots at operating temp
stop and go city driving messes up reading,,fluid level changes with temp-operation

www.owners.acura.com will get you a free download of your Years TL
