unusual noise when turning...help!!
Ok, Its hard to explain but i will try. I have a 99 tl with 60000+ miles on it. I just recently installed some Megan Headers and i think it is just a coinsidence(ms) but when i am turning i get a rubbing/grinding noise from the front. Mainly when i am turning left but occasionally turning right. I have 18" adr's on it with an offset of +48. My wheels are clearing every thing so i know it is not them rubbing. I am worried that it is the transmission since it sounds like grinding and u can feel it in the floor board and peddles. Doesn't do it going straight only turning. If any one has had a similar problem any suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks
i had all kinds of problems with noises on my old 99's suspension... mainly after I got into an accident. My car would pop, groan, moan, and bitch. It sounded like an 80 year old woman having horribly bad gas while coincidently having a heart attack. Anyways, I put my car on a lift and inspected every single area of that suspension and I discovered that things weren't tight enough, and there was a significant ammount of play. So I fixed that and tightened them up, and I guess my old girl got a pacemaker and started taking beano cause it was as quiet as a church mouse after that!
grinding noise
I also had a grinding noise, only when making a full left turn, with my '03 TL-S. I'd say it was more a crunchy noise rather than a grind, but it sounded awful. Since it was under warranty, I took in and they were baffled, pulled out all the steering and suspension, and eventually tracked it down to a broken pin in the rack and pin steering. They replaced it and it's been fine since.
