under 60k, change ATF?
Still wont cool 350 deg c 3rd gear clutch packs. Fluid needs to get there to do it. Now if you can cool the 3rd gear shaft and drum then you are getting somewhere.
So, from what I have read here, taking your TL to an Acura dealer for a transmission service does not mean they drop an oil pan and remove the filter, refill and do a few cycles to get old oil out of the torque converter, etc.?
Excuse me for my unfamiliarity with Acura transmissions, I'm an old Chevy turbo 400 guy.
Thanks.

dealer does 1 drain and refill of 3 qts (may be 3.4) for ~100$$$$!!!
they dont change external filter as that takes time
remove one drain plug and one fill hole plug- drain contents as will give up- refill- done-
its actually easier than a TL oil change- no big filter to run down your arm

there is an optional method using running engine, as you could back in the day
That does a good job of pumping out atf- have helper run it thru the gears with some rpm to move old fluid along as you are working
there is a vid on here--kris is that pinned to a diy yet? or a TL vid of process, not an accord

Wl, I'm at 135k miles bought the car around 90k and 100% no idea of it's been drained and filled.
flushing is not for this car and wi harm the tranny more then helping, so if that is the case, what do you suggest? I will be taking it to a dealership or shop and want to tell them what to do, or have a general idea of what's going on.
Thanks

the dealership says they changed all the oil and stuff but i tend not to trust them...i would do a flush of all the fluids....engine/coolant/brake/tranny/ps...takes a saturday and couple beers....
specially at that mileage you wanna be a little more careful....

i just did the change yesterday, it went great, apparently the filter is "non existent" even to people that "know wut their talking about" ordered it from delray and it was pretty easy, i spent $125 on fluid tho -__-
