Type-S ecu into base j32a1 engine???

Would it be possible to simply swap out the j32a1's ecu for a type-s ecu from a j32a2 engine without changing anything else? Just wondering if this would be a cheap way to increase performance or if other parts (i.e. camshaft, intake, and transmission) need to be swapped out with the type-s ecu for it to run properly. Thanks for any help!!!

No that will absolutely, positively not work.
It will probably throw codes.
The ECU does not provide performance gains, the things you mentioned above do and the ECU helps to control them to provide maximum power.

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering because I know the j32a2 ecu moves the redline up something like 600 rpm compared to the j32a1 ecu.

because of the cams intake etc!

for you-
get a lightweight crank pulley to get to vtec faster
perform all normal and extra maitenance like egr system clean-TB service- lube throttle cables (few think of that)

valve adjustment if near or over 100kmiles

all contribute to economy or performance- depending on how you drive it
the plugged/clogged egr port system causes more problems than most even consider
on regular cars its not a prob- the TL, its every 75kmiles the system needs a good scrubbing and poking out the passages and ports
