Trouble when starting... sometimes...
Hi, to start out I have to let everyone know I have searched this problem. So the problem is when I try and start the car, it usually turns on just fine, every so often it will start and the engine revs at about 400 rpms, or so the tach says. It doesn't even sound like the engine is on though. I usually try and start it a few times and I finally get frustrated and give it some gas after a few tries and it'll rev up and stay on. To fix this I tried a few things. First, I cleaned the intake manifold and throttle body. Then I changed the spark plugs. It seemed as if all was well and a few nights later it did it again. So I read that it could possibly be the alternator. So today I decided to take it out and get it tested at Autozone. Low and behold it's good. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. Thanks in advance.
Does it happen anytime or when it is cold, or when it is first started in the morning? Sounds like to need to clean the EGR ports. I don't believe it is IAC valve with the way you explained it. IF it is something else, I would expect the problem is more consistent. Maybe someone else can help.
