Trouble starting, continuos clicking noise... and then sometimes starts just fine????
Hi, I am clueless as it what it could be...
One day, I just pulled up to a gas station to get a drink, and then it would not start... never had any issues what so ever like it.
When I turned the ignition, I would hear just 1 click... and all the power in the car went out. Had to reset the radio with code, memory seats... when the power was out, even the brake light would not come on when pumping the break...
After 5 minutes of wondering, what was wrong, I gave it a another go, and it started just fine... Worked fine for about 2 days, and again the same problem... this time, when I turn the ignition, it has a continuos click.... it would last for bout 5 seconds of clicking, before it slows down and stops clicking. then have to return the key to postion one and try it again.... and it would start, and sometimes it wont at all, and have to try my luck like 20 minutes later... and that has been going on for the past week or so, on and off.
I am suspecting bad wire from battery to the selinoid... or bad selinoid itself? autozone does not sell selinoids itself, but o'reily does...
Not sure if its the starter itself, because when it works, it has no trouble at all.
Was wondering what you guys think....

Did you open the hood and check the battery cables? Sounds like a loose and/or dirty connection to batt. or starter. Clean & tighten all the cables & batt. posts. Have batt. charged, then load tested. It could be failing too.

sounds like a 99 with a bad ignition switch to me~

the simple solution is often the best~

while the ignition switch was a recall on 99s,,other years can suffer the same issue
