Is it the Transmission or the Torque Converter?

I have a 2000 Acura TL with 260k+ miles with an '03 engine in it with about 60-70k miles on it and I bought it knowing that the transmission wasn't working. The guy sold it to me with the tranny he bought to repair it (unknown mileage) and said that the check engine light comes on off and on and that 3rd slips. I've had it for a while and I noticed that while I'm in 3rd, it will accelerate at higher rpm's like it's engaged but not completely. I thought this was just because the 3rd gear is bad but I recently heard that it could be a torque converter and have been reading here and there about some of the symptoms that I have, like dirty ATF and odd shifting durations. I'm wondering if this car has a solenoid like on the tranny that has a clogged screen or if my TC is bad. I have a video you can see
of how it engages and the slight acceleration I get from the gear.

It cant hold the clutch plates together under load so it will slip, The converter is used for lock up not for shifting through gears.
The trans is on its way, Have you checked out the AV6 option ?

I've read about that and the Oddy tranny and I'm considering those. In your opinion, which is better?

Yup that's a toasted trans.
The AV6 is the best option but the oddy should work just fine. Try to get the AV6 as your first option.
