Power Steering O-ring replacement

At the bottom of the reservoir there is a thicker tube that connects back up to the ps pump on the right side. There is a little screw underneath holding the connector onto the pump. Take the screw out (10mm), remove connector, then remove the o-ring. Place the new o-ring on the connector and insert back into the ps pump and replace screw. You may want to remove the return pump tubing from the connector but make sure you have a rag underneath or your belts will be covered with fluid. Also it was easier for me to remove the wiring harness clips that's are near the ps pump. Of course grap some more ps fluid as you'll most likely lose a little in the process. Good luck.

Glad I could help. The screw is hidden (the first image) underneath the L connector that it is hard to see.

I bumbed that line going into the power steering pump and it started sucking air into the system. Had to replace the O ring also. Of course the Acura garage ripped me off for $3 for an O ring. Go Figure.

After a timing belt change on my '99 TL, started hearing whining noises. Honda shop wanted to sell me a new PS pump. I've read the messages hear about the inlet o-ring being at fault and bought the part and want to do the job myself.

The bolt that I need to remove is in a very tight place. Could someone offer suggestions on how to remove and what tools to use? I noticed that on later year's models, it's doesn't look as tight as on my '99. Thanks!

U need to use a U-joint to get to that tight area.

Yeah, you would think that would work. There's a video of someone making this repair on a 2005 (?) TL using a universal joint. I tried a universal 10mm socket and its still tight.

Anyone who has made this repair on a '99 TL??

Instead of making a new post i will just ask in here.
My powersteering pump is whining but i have no issues with steering.I see its leaking out close to the reservoir and when i add fluid(fill it over recommended) the whining goes away temperately. Is this pointing at o-rings or damaged line?
