Transmission Swap
Yes I know.. another transmission thread, sorry guys.
The transmission I have now is wearing out and feels like it will give out on me anytime soon with 111k mileage on my car. I have the money to replace it new but is it worth doing that?
My car is a TL-P 2000 so I'm going for the more VIP STYLE look and I only really care for is 3 things which are MPG,Affordable and Durability what do you experts recommend I should do to my transmission?
keep in mind if I'm going to fix my transmission I don't want to stress fixing it again for a long time, Thank you team acurazine!

well the options are: dealer and ask service manager for goodwill assistance based on low miles,, but well over years
there are no brand new units- only rebuilt thru acura warranty shop
Tell them you have a 2500 quote from local shop but would prefer an acura rebuilt unit if possible
can they match the price? sometimes they will!! they want $4000++ retail!!!
otherwise its use a local shop- avoid name brands with aa in the name- they have quotas to meet and tend to mess up a TL trans
Need to have experience with these units to do it right the first time
another possible is the trans tech/head tech at dealer might do rebuilds at home on the cheap,,never hurts to ask them while they stand at the lunch wagon~

Whats the price of a acura 3.2 tl-p 5 speed automatic swap and will it break again?
How much will it cost to do the cl type s engine/ 6 speed transmission swap?
I'm serious about doing this and need assistance, thank you

2500 to rebuild your trans in its case at trans shop
4000+ for acura to swap a rebuilt unit in the new design case
see the 6speed swap thread on main gen2 thread list--one of the 1st listed
figure $2500 to 4000 depending on how much you spend on getting used parts,
and your labor time,,, or a shops

yes the auto trans will eventually wear out again
will it be 60kmiles- 100 or 150-200 no one can say
the newer case design, known as `post 2/05` has better oiling and lower failure numbers overall.. but still --
parts is just parts and you abuse them= they are going to wear out faster
Kevlar clutches used by aftermarket are superior to acura clutches
yes auto trans have several clutches!!

I understand parts worn out but not a transmission at 111k mileage my previous car was a 2001 s2000 with 168k mileage and the car still ran like if it came out new from the dealer.
I live in Miami and the shop I usually go to told me they will replace the transmission for $1200 firm

get a LOT of details on that trans!! thats way low pricing,,labor included- any warranty
dont care what your other car got for trans life
a TL isnt your other car,,and has a notoriously low oiling flow to 2nd and 3rd gear clutches that causes them to wear out faster than `normal`
read some of the Tranny Failure thread and learn all you need to know in the last 8 pages of thread
