Transmission Question
First, sorry to jack your thread, Mr Chanh…
I havent replaced the spin-on filter or cleaning the solenoid valve screens yet. I can give that a try. Also, no engine lights on.
It seems to me to be a sort of sensor/switch problem since I don't get any slipping or grinding gears. Its only a problem when I come to a stop and try to move again. Its also like its ONLY in neutral, it doesn't ever engage, just revs. I had a 98 Accord a while back that had tranny issues. That one would slip like crazy… would be in gear and it would rev & rev and eventually catch. Once this one is engaged, there's no problem, moves thru all the gears just fine.

First thing to do is replace the filter, it might be clogged and double check the level of the tranny fluid. Tranny filter has 4 bolts 10mm and easy to replace. There is one on Amazon and Rock Auto. About 15 bucks.
Hey MrChanh, locate a used '06>'07 Accord V6 tranny from a salvage yard for about $1000 and then find a shop willing to replace your old worn out tranny with the AV6. Shouldn't be much more than $500 for installation labor.
the shop will warranty a rebuild for 36k/3 years. He said he's willing to tackle the swap but won't provide an actual quote for labor since he's never done it. I'd have it towed elsewhere but the guy's got it torn out and I'm not in a good spot as far as time constraints go. I appreciate the info and will probably go that route with the AV6 on the next trans replacement.
For 3200, that sounds like you are doing a 6 speed manual trans swap

Sir, 3200 seems way too high. I just rebuilt mine for approximately $1800. Here is the post of what I got done: https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...postcount=3588

My friends 3rd gen just gave up your not alone.
Go for the AV6 and forget the rebuild, put the old one on craigslist for sale some rebuilders might buy it and pay more than what a scrap metal place will.
Dont sell it until the swap is done just incase.

AV6 vs: Rebuild
Hey MrChanh, If the shop's willing to install the AV6....it's just a matter of them or you finding a donor tranny, then simply bolting it in. Worse case scenario.....about $2000 total expense on the average. The AV6 labor time involved is cut dramatically from their actual rebuilding plus reinstalling the old one.
Understanding your time constraints, you could probably afford to rent a car with the extra savings over the rebuild. The most consuming time factor would be the locating and delivery of a donor tranny vs the actual rebuild of your old tranny.

MrChanh, your shop's mechanic apparently jumped the gun a bit with the rebuild....unless he is just complying with your stated time restraints.
So, with that being said.....Best of luck with the rather expensive option, but keep your warranty paperwork in a safe place, as ya may need it down the road a few years from now, if ya plan on keeping the car long term. {$3200 for the next 36k}

I'll check what brand, he said something about using chevy gears or something since it's the same size but more durable...
Hopefully I won't need that luck... long term indeed though. the body is straight and clean

Thanks for your help, TLer trash. It turned out that the passenger side axle was rusted and broken. Replaced it and now works fine. Glad it wasn't a $4,000 problem.
Maybe I'll post pictures since Im actually rebuilding one at my house lol that way you can see.
I'm experiencing the same D5 and Reverse hesitation, although when I back out of the garage I go from Park to Neutral and then Reverse, that seems to eliminate any hesitation... now when I put it in drive I get a few seconds of the car acting as if it was in neutral. Sometimes it kicks in gear and others I have to gas it a little. I get the same neutral gear roll when I come to a complete stop and have to gas it some to go.
Sometimes when I am braking or decelerating around 30-40mph it feels like its jumping around 2nd and 3rd gear.
I'm on my 2nd transmission - is a rebuild with 40k on it.
Currently looking for an 06-07 accord v6 trans, but I NEED this one to last me another week or 2 at least...

Try to use D4 instead of D5, For me this eliminated a strange shutter I was getting 20mph and above.

If ya have a floor jack, jack up the front, secure jackstands & chock wheels, look for leaks underneath where the axles fit into the tranny, grab ahold of each shaft one at a time and check for any play, looseness, or slop when moving it.
