Trans Question

Hello Everyone

Im new to the acura world. I just bought a 2003 Acura tl type s with 65,000 on the od. and i had a question about the trans warranty. My trans seams to shift odd some times and when i start the car the D5 light comes on and then goes off. I wanted to know what i should do and do i have the 100k trans warranty that i have read all about... And being that i dont know the history of this car, what type of service should i do to make sure it is in tip top shape. Thanks Matt

As you probably figured out, not all 2003 TLs have the 7 year/100,000 mile extended warranty on the transmission.

You can call Acura and give them your VIN number and they can tell you if you're covered. There's a toll-free number you can find via Acura.com or Google.

You can also register your car online at Acura.com and find out that way.

If you haven't already, you might want to run a CarFax report on the car. While these reports are not perfect they can be useful.

As far as servicing, as a start, you might want to change the oil and check the air filter.

Best of luck with your TL!

Bob
