Tranny Slipping...

Just bought my TL not 2 years ago, i changed out the tranny oil once i bought the car at 102000 miles, now at 115000 the oil already seems to be dark and ready to change again.

The car use to just slip when the car was cold now it does it whenever it wants whether its cold or warm.. (between 3-4 usually but now 2-3,3-4)

I'm not quiet sure what to do at this point, whether i should be saving for a new tranny or if their is anything else i can do to slow this process down.

please let me know if their is any word of advice.

When you change the trans fluid only 3 quarts of the 7.5 comes out, so it will get dirty quickly as the old mixes with the new. While the damage has already started, take out the shift solenoids clean the screens (personally i would replace the 2nd and 3rd) and see if that helps along with the external filter.

So knowing our trannys are suicidal would it be even worth if it is just going to happen again? and any rough estimate at what i'm looking at and any recommendations on parts?

First, check with your local Acura dealer to find out if the original tranny was inspected under recall. They should be able to tell you by looking up the car's VIN #, if the tranny was replaced at the time of recall.

At this point, you have nothing to lose by trying Fsttyms1 previous suggestions. Do another drain & fill using Honda DW1 fluid. The costs and effort involved are but a drop in the bucket when compared to a full tranny rebuild or replacement.

A popular option lately has been using the improved '06/'07 Accord 5 spd AT as a donor for replacing our old worn out tranny's. Costs should be approximately $1500 for this swap.
