tranny problem ???

When I floor the gas pedal the car starts to jerk and rev on it's own until I let go of it. There is nothing wrong with the gears because if I don't floor it completely it'll run smoothly i just cant put the pedle to the floor or else it just revs on 3500 RPM. Can you help me determine the problem?

your clutch packs are almost dead
Engagement takes the most grip- then they stay in gear
but full throttle around 25-35mph,,2nd and 3rd gear clutches will show their weakness

Smell the atf- black and burnt sugar smell?
you are both in need of a trans ,,choices are rebuild yours or a used Odessey trans is an option many are doing now

Well the ATF is still redish but it does smell a little burnt. Also it was a little low not in between the two points (sorry not a mechanic don't know specific wordage). Should I do a flush?

fluid level ck is only accurate at 15 minute freeway cruise- from cold- then ck as between the dots

anything else is a guess

any burnt smell is bad news!!!
If its slipping already no amount of new fluid is going to restore grip
but if you want to change it, use honda DW1 fluid..get 4 qts
it drains between 3 and 3.4 qts, have to measure to refill correctly

Do NOT let anyone hook up a machine and power flush the trans
or that may be the last day it drives!
many use a non honda fluid- kills it fast

So I talked AMMCO here in corpsus christi, Tx and he said following..

17hrs of labor 85$hrly = 1445.00 plus parts.
He said Kevlar parts not needed it's just a marketing tool.
3yr warranty national.
This is on a rebuild.....

My worry is if for some crazy reason he says they have to do a full swapp without internal rebuild then it's really going to cost aloooot more...... Bad thing here in this town I dont know many trustworthy places to rebuild.
Please advise and thanks for any imput.....

Honda oddessey trans fits our engine with a small modification, its a better unit overall and cost less than the 2500 to rebuild, see threads on the subject

only reason they cant rebuild yours is if there is a crack leaking fluid in the case right now
otherwise they take it apart- clean everything, measure to see whats reusable and whats dead--gear wear shaft wear etc and install all the new parts

AA has a bad rep due to their corporate quota and mentality of get it done fast and cheap (for them not you) ,,not done to the very highest standards

Use the phone book for smaller private shops, call private owner type honda repair shops and ask who they use
look in Regions section for ziners near you for referal to good shop

All major name places are daily/weekly/monthly quota based, and must sell and upsell jobs... or lose their job!

aa gets a parts kit from their supplier, which doesnt contain the best parts and clutches,
it has whats cheap for them to buy!
We have an aa manager on here who swears his shop does them all the time no prob
but its not a company wide abilty~

what exactly did they use for atf and how many quarts??

if not on the receipt call them or drop by and speak directly with tech, not counter girl
The fluid is pretty important --the TL is very picky

If you found one thats better,,we need to know

If your trans takes a dive in a week--the shop needs to know it put a non-allowed fluid in,,say dextron3

Definetly ckeck the level per book method
15 minutes freeway cruise from cold, get off park safely and ck level `between the dots` at that fluid temp
Indicated level changes with temp
