Temporary HID Fix

While debugging my HID problems I discovered a temporary fix to get low beam lights working on both sides. This will only work if your high beam lights are working. Frist Disconnect the HID Inverter/Ballast from the engine wire harness. Remove the HID cover. Unhook the Igniter / HID Bulb clip, and remove the HID Bulb. You should never touch the glass of the HID Bulb, or the inner contacts on the Igniter HID socket.

Now put the high beam bulb and socket into the low bean side of the headlight. The Igniter clip will hold the high beam bulb in place while driving. I put the HID cover aside, and all the loose cables into a baggie and tie wrapped it. You will need to unplug the high beam bulb on the other working side. When you turn on the low beam lights with the high beams on, you will have low beam headlights on both sides. It sounds confusing but it will get you by.

Of course they won’t be the same color as the HID Bulbs, and will appear dimmer. You won’t have any high beams as they are being used as low beams. You will also have to get use to driving past other cars with your high beam indicator on the dash lit. But you won’t get pulled over for missing headlights.

Enjoy
