Mine takes a few minutes too, depending on the temp.

It should go up much faster once you start driving. I'd say there's a problem only if the needle doesn't rise after a short drive.

If you mean at idle, theres no reason why the car wouldn't take long to warm up if you're not moving unless you're revving the motor up to assist in warming. If it doesn't move after 5 minutes of driving then there's an issue, but it can be a coolant temp sensor not necessarily the actual dash gauge.

at idle when really cold its going to take several minutes
and the car doesnt like it

the system is programmed for a 1-2 minute warm-up and then start driving
Starts on the full rich fuel setting
It also holds 1-2 gear (when in D5) a little longer -higher rpm shift
thats to speed engine warming, get the cylinders firing and heat is generated quickly

note- leave the cabin heater off until its got good temp
opening it just adds more cold coolant to the total capacity

Driving creates heat which is carried away by the coolant, which in turn goes to a mini radiator-- for cabin heat to be extracted from it

change the sensor if you want to be safe
get a new acura thermostat of the same temp as stock

How old is your coolant- more than 5 years? change it
