Talked to my Transmission Guy

After work I went to talk to the guys who rebuilt my transmission.
I specifically asked if they had seen a number of 2006-2007 Accord transmissions come into their shop. They said no BUT, there is a 5 year lag time. When it's within the warranty, the dealers get the work. When it's outside of that and the dealers say piss off, they get it.
Something else they told me is that the only thing that has been upgraded on my 2003 rebuilt transmission per the bulletins, were the pressure switches (IIRC). They also didn't seem aware of the issues and lawsuits surrounding our 5 speed tranny.
One of the guys there had a 2006 Acura TL 5 speed. He said his tranny started acting a bit funny at 120000 miles, and he got it rebuilt by Acura. However, he said he had a factory approved supercharger put on his when he bought it. That may account for the issue.
As has been mentioned here, they said to change the tranny fluid yearly or every 15k.
Sorry if that isn't the info some would have hoped for, but I wanted to try and give a little something back to the forum that's helped me.

Supercharger won't cause our tranny to fail, there is a known issue. It is also know that the 06-07 accord tranny is a better replacement though not perfect. If they knew our cars, they'd know the tranny issue.

Exactly the failure rate was nowhere near the rate of our second gen tls. It is a much cheaper better alternative then running a second generation tl transmission

Hey B.TL, these guys know their stuff !

FYI: The Acura trannys were having serious issues well before five years, very common knowledge of their early problems. While the Honda engineers had some time and experience to improve upon the basically similiar Accord 5 speed AT. The Accord's tranny is way far more dependable and proven reliable so far. So, with that being said.....trust these guys and especially the Honda engineers for making substantial improvements over the '00>'03 ^ TL's 5 speed AT.

By itself, no. SC+pounding on it constantly can. His was the 2006 TL tho.
I also did Google searches for 06-07 Accord AT failures and found nothing. I just want to be sure before I drop one in. One unexpected $3500 bill was enough.

Thanks for responding.

There is no factory approved SC

Also if they werent "aware of the issues and lawsuits surrounding our 5 speed tranny" i wouldnt take any info they told you with any seriousness. They seemed to just be telling you stuff they wanted you to hear.

I wondered about that SC. The funny thing is the guy claiming to have the SC did know what years to avoid. He has an Acura or two and a Honda. Before I left he even said the 2000-2004 should be avoided. Perhaps they know how to rebuild them and don't get more into it than that.

I will swear by the 05 Oddy trans I just put in my 00TL... Finished the swap a couple days ago. Already had it up to 147... @MilwaukeeDave: SunnySlope hill is a great place to open up the taps.

I plan on going that route in a couple years, but with a 2006-7 Accord tranny. They seem to be pretty good.

Not sure where that is, I'll have to search it out. I went out around the Kettle Moraine Forest area and was over 140 there. Did you swap your own trans or have it done at a shop?

I swapped the motor out myself. Sunny Slope is in closer to the city. Yeah there are a few good hills on 45 before lomira, Im just not out that way very often. I guess we'll see how well this one goes, im on about 600 miles since the swap and still no MIL lights and its still shifting strong. I haven't babied it either, but I'll take your advice and check the third gen oddy forums.

All the things I saw on the oddy forums were pre 05. What did you read?
