Sunlight Sensor Cover

The car wash knocked loose the cover to the sunlight sensor cover. Looks like it was glued to the sensor. Is that correct? How do I repair this as there is now appears the sensor is lose, but doesnt appear to have enough play to pull out far enough to glue the cover back.

Advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

pull it out and unplug it. Then reattach it.

Thanks,

Had to buy a 45 degree needle nose to get it out, but no problems.

Sunlight Sensor...

is that the little black (in my case) plastic rectangle, about 1" X 2", that is on top of the dash way up under the base of the windshield???

Since the car doesn't have automatic headlights, what is the sun sensor for?
Rearview mirror?

That sensor is not for DRL. The 2G TL headlight system is not that smart. Our DRL doesn't use any light sensor. It comes on whenever the headlights are not manually switched on, with the engine running and the parking brakes off.

That temp sensor is for the climate control system, and together with the other temp sensor, located next to the steering column inside the dash, they help the climate control to regulate the inside cabin temp.

Just as I figured, it's not a SUN sensor :-) ...I've never noticed any DRLs on my car either.

My sunlight sensor cover came loose today.
I pushed it back in gingerly not to touch the sensor but im wondering if anyone else has stumbled upon this and what they did.
Does that sensor itself unplug or is that black piece that sits in the dash supposed to be attached to the sensor?

thelastspec, does you're heater work? Does the heater get hotter as you increase the temp, or just constant temp heat? Those codes are for a bad motor that controls the heater air mix.

My sunlight sensor was also knocked off. I kind of just forgot about it since it sits in place, but I'll try to reglue it now.

yea, everything works fine... weird...

seems the top cover is meant to be part of the sensor "chip" (all one big assembled piece)
as stated above that sensor can be unplugged to make it easy to glue that plastic piece back on i guess.

i tried the diagnostic mode again with the temperature dial in the middle this time and nothing came up after 1 minute, no flashing nothing. Turned key to 0 tried again, didnt do anything again. Im guessing if nothing happens there are no problems.

Yup, it shouldn't flash anything if there is no problem.
