New owner of a 2003 tl-s. Bought in June and currently have 80,000mls on it. Changed cabin filters last week and today A/C blower motor went tits-up. Wife was on her way home in 100 degree Texas summer and it stopped blowing. Can still feel cold air but no air volume. Checked fuses and no luck there.
Anyone know how labor intensive replacing the motor is? I am about 80mls from my "local" Acura dealer and as I said it is the middle of Texas summer. Have a local Honda dealer; do they usually do well on the Acuras?
Thanks,
James

Committed the worst newbee mistake. Asked a ? before doing a search and Holy Crap there are alot of post on A/C blower subject.
Still curious if Honda dealers usually do a good job on our cars. Not that I ever go to the dealer for repairs, but just in case it boils down to that option.

Did you purchase your car from an Acura dealer if so, normally they should give you a warranty, for example, 3 months or 3k miles, if this is the case, I suggest you go back to the dealer where you bought the car from. To answer your question, I understand that Honda dealers usually do a pretty good job working on Acuras, since Honda techs are usually certified and an Acura is really a Honda
Good luck

Found this nice little Service Bulletin on the blower motor connector issue. Moderators might consider making it a DIY. Unable to make it a quick link, but if you copy and paste to the address bar it works. Tried it myself before posting this.

Finished replacing the pigtail. Connector on motor was melted to the point I must now replace the entire motor.
UPDATE:
Installed the A/C blower motor today and she is as good as new. Still sucks that I had to spend $130 total instead of just $12 for the harness, but I did save labor cost by doing it myself.

I have this same issue and i have been wiggling the wire to the blower for almost a year.... well, this week i started to smell burning wires when the ac was on full so i tried to keep the fan speed down. On thursday, it finally stopped altogether. I went my dealer this morning and they had one blower sub harness left. I downloaded the TSB above and started to replace the harness this afternoon.
Problems:
1. when i removed the blower connector i found what i assumed was the problem: singed wires and inside the connector was burnt on the right side.
2. I have tried all afternoon to remove the yellow black wire out of the brown connector harness (i know there has to be a release on the terminal, but I can't get it out). I even tried cutting the yellowblack wire and to slide the new wire into the same terminal, but i don't think there is enough of a connection.
3. with the jerryrigged pigtail, I plugged the harnesses back together and started the car.... nothing. Still no air flow?
Do you think:
a. the yellow black wire is not getting a good enough connection?
b. blower motor is down too?
c. the blower harness (where burned as mentioned above) is burned too bad to work now?
d. any or all of the above.
Any thoughts and help is greatly appreciated.
oh yeah... 2000 TL non-nav 105,000

You don't mention the blue/orange wire and yes removing the old wires from the connectors is a PITA!!!! Small flat blade screwdriver helps alot.
Recheck all of your connections. I would try doing a continuity check on the harness and motor($100) to make sure you are getting power there.
Look at the TSB again and notice the transistor mentioned there. Sometimes that goes bad as well. ($40-$50)

Yeah.... i forgot to mention that I hooked up the blue/orange wire too.
Good news is I got it to work this morning. I hate to admit this but in my rush to finish the job last night, I removed the wrong yellow/black wire
; rather than remove the yellow/black wire from the top portion of the brown harness, I removed the bottom. So when I went back out this morning to double check all my connections I finally realized what I did and I corrected the mistake. As soon as I did that, I hooked everything back up and the ac blows cold, and on all fan speeds. Thanks for everyone's help.

My blower is kicking...but just like the tranny, eventually it will go like everyone else here (mine tranny just went and replaced)...so next on the list is this melting a/c dilemma. Should i go ahead and swap out the "updated' wire harness?
