Strange sound coming from the front

Strange sound coming from the front
I have searched the forum and could not find anything similar. My problem is that at certain times in low speed the car will make a thr..thrrrr.thrrrr...thhrrrrrr sound. Once I speed up I will never heard the sound again. I have taken the car in and checked the following:

1. Axle
2. Bolt Joints and Brakes
3. Rotors and Rims

They are all perfectly fine. The other thing I noticed is that at certain times it seems the car is hesitating to get into the next gear. I have been trying to monitor at what speeds but cannot get the exact speed.... I'm leaning towards the range of 40 to 66. This also does not happen all the time.

From what I gathered reading on the forum, it could be the torque converter? Did anyone heard that sound before it failed?

I took the car in and did an alignment but the sound is still there. I'm sure someone on the forum came across something like this.... From time to time there is a thrrr trrrrr trrrr sound for 3 to 4 seconds. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Cool

IS there anything at all rubbing? Is it loud? IF so, could you record it, and post a video?

Just gotta thinking. Could it be the ABS self test? When you start the car?

Does it sounds squeaky at all? My interga is making a similar sound! It does not do it at idle, but right off the line it makes a noise for 3-4 sec, on and off. At first I thought it was related to the AC compressor but ain't.

Not coming from the ABS pump either.

Does it happen when you first start the car and start moving or is it every time you start moving (like every stop light)

My 03 has similar sounds but it only happens at idle and it sounds like its coming from under the dash or the right front seat. Its driving me crazy!
As I speed up, it goes away.

Sorry for the late response, but I have been away. This sound is driving me crazy too, I will be taking the car into the dealer this week end. For me the sound comes when I first accelerate. For higher speeds it smooth as hell. Also the car started to hesitate, at low gears. From what I read in the forums it might be the tranny, is about to go. The whole car shakes for few seconds, but the rpm meter does not shoot up at all.

Marcus you seem to be having the same exact issue. The car is making the sound every time I start moving from a stop light. Now the worst part is the whole car sometimes jerks.

A/C belt tensioner can make noise from a start, if it needs to be replaced.

Whats your mileage?

Isnt this the ABS testing system noise? I believe I've read on this forum that upon start-up, our Anti-lock braking system runs a self-test or something and that is the noise you hear. (If we are talking about the same noise)

Ok... I finally took the car to the dealer today. There are two issues according to them.
1. The reason the car is shaking is that the engine and transmission mount broke.(They showed this to me and I buy the assessment.) They cannot figure with 100% confidence where the sound is coming from but they believe it's the transmission. ( I do not buy that and not willing to shell out $4000 until I have a second or third opinion.) What go guys think? As anyone heard of thrrr.thrrrr. thrrrr sounds from time before their transmission gave out? Also the engine is not giving any error codes. One think he said was that the transmission fluild was not red but a lighter red or almost brown. This is apparently another sign that there are issues internally.

Get the mounts fixed and see if you still have a problem

Kobazi, does your rpm move at all when you hear your thr..thrr sound? Usually any transmission issue is accompanied by erratic rpm changes / wavering gear selection? I have also heard that people get their engine/tranny mounts broken after the transmission starts failing. So, the dealer might be right here.

This the weird part. The RPM are perfectly normal. As Rob-2 said, I will fix the mounts and see what happens from there.

Does anyone have a link for a DIY for the mounts? I searched for DIY mounts but nothing came up that I can actually use.

if you have any problems like i posted in my thread - its the tranny but its normal to a little of what ur getting - not excessive amounts. but it could also not be ur tranny.

this is my thred https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-problems-fixes-117/tranny-not-major-probelms-yet-shuttering-696967/ - u prob already read it, but if u didnt read the whole thing.
hope this can help. but i think its more than just a normal tranny shuttering ur having hear.

After reading your thread, I'm now thinking it could be the torque converter. On my way back home today I noticed it's only occurring at around 40.

I fixed both mounts and the sound has reduced tremendously but it's still present. I guess there is nothing to do further. I'm just going to drive until the tyranny gives out. All other problems have been eliminated. Stay tuned until the tryanny is changed.

The tranny died today (RIP), I guess those guys at the dealers knew what they were talking about after all.
