Strange noise under hood. Need help

Hello everyone, my name is Mark I just bought an 02 TL-S with 62k original miles. The thing is mint but I am having a weird noise that sounds like a low pitched Kazoo or duck call coming from under the hood. It only happens when you start the car cold then when you take off it "buzz's" for a second then a brief pause as you're accelerating then another one second "buzz" then it doesn't do it again until the engine is stopped, restarted and then go through the same routine. I don't know if it is an actuator or a buzzing PCV but it does it the exact same way evertime.

I also get a deep drumming noise coming from the plastic air intake at idle.

Has anyone had this problem and how is it fixed?

Is the intake stock or aftermarket?

if aftermarket disconnect the vacuum lines running to it and see if humming subsides.
if stock take it off and make sure its not cracked

register with www.owners.acura.com and download the free owner book
I think you are hearing the ABS self test at 5 and 15mph

also register with acura care 1 800 382 2238 x5
tell them new owner and ask if all recalls are taken care of

01tl4tl nailed it on the ABS self-test. Every new owner (I did too) asks about that noise - perfectly fine. Regarding the droning, they may have removed the intake resonator, which quiets things a bit when it is still installed. Many people remove those for better throttle response. Again, it's fine, but takes some getting used to, and you can forget about sneaking up on anyone.

Thanks for answer that's pretty much the speeds I hear it. Any way to silence it? I can't believe a manufacturer would have something make a noise like that intentionally. I'ts irritating as hell.

Every TL is like that, just try to ignore it - eventually you will.
Its just doing its job.

how loud is it? Is this your first abs car?
You want the ABS working- just in case of that `stomp and steer braking manuever`
a certain spouse may need to do--when traffic or accident is suddenly right in front of them
abs allows you max application of the brakes,, without skidding,, and having no braking~

It's not my first ABS car but it is the first one that ever made the noise. I don't know what a "normal" loudness is but it is very noticeable every time. I don't want to disconnect the ABS just wanted to know if I can quiet the noise.

pull the abs fuse/relay and drive slowly up the street
20mph without abs --you should be ok~

a light thunk as the pump or whatever does its thing is normal
radio off, drivers notice--but after reading owner book - understand whats going on
= the car has to run a few systems test,,,

wont hurt to go thru the brake system, lube all moving parts, flush out decade old fluid,
restore proper braking!
