Stiff Gas Pedal
Stiff Gas Pedal
I notice that my gas pedal when first accelerating is pretty stiff/sticky. It just started happening about 2 weeks ago. On a side note I just finished a 1500 mile road trip and the car passed the 100k mile mark(03 tls). I dont think that has anything to do with it,but just more. info. so someone can help me out on this matter or have a guess on whats the problem. If anyone has the same problem now or in the pass, please let me know what was it and how to fix it.
My MDX had that problem. it would do a click when first stepping on the gas. I don't know who or what thread but cleaning the throttle was the suggestion. I actually just sprayed some Seafoam spray onto the lines just to see if there was some build up and surprisingly it worked. No more clicking and everything seems okay.
If you clean the throttle body, butterfly and cables it'll solve your problem.
I initially had the TB cleaned, it was better but once I cleaned the butterfly and cable housing it was back to silky smooth.

Deep Creep,- Seafoam in a spray can, is awesome for cleaning the inner workings of the TB, the air/throttle plate and pivot pin-- and its springs and mechanism-
its oil people!!- hi detergent oil- you can use it to lube the hinges on the door!! or protect the electricals before washing engine compartment~
Remove the cables from the mount- clean all the rotation mechanism on TB-
lube spring assembly- hold throttle cable end up and spray gently into it- move cable- spray more- move cable out---you get the idea, and do the cruise control cable too.
Assemble- adjust cable freeplay- shoot more lube and done

I had the same e problem. I went to walmart and got some Berryman B-12 throttle body cleaner... I sprayed that into the intake and viola, problem solved. I am going to try to take the entire assembly apart and try to clean it real good...
indo- no need to go in the engine -removing manifold unless your intent is cleaning the egr ports and intake runners--check out the Seafoam DIY- you are due
A toothbrush eh kris....cant I just spray seafoam and let it sit overnight- then hit it again and run the car- then spray some carb or TB cleaner last to remove all traces of oil???
yes I know more engine oil vapor is going to move right in - but I like to make it look like I did a great job
