Stange sound....only when starting to drive

I have noticed a strange sound when I initially start my car and it has been sitting ofr a while (say overnight, or when leaving work), and start driving there is this little "bbbrrrppp" sound that I get twice when starting out, then I don't hear it again utill the next time I start up and drive off. I was thinking Torque converter, but that is more of an "wild ass guess" than a rational information based decision.

No other problems.

I have about 87K on it

Has anyone else had or heard of this before?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: No CEL of any sort on dash, I will hook up to scanner in the morning, and check for codes.

Its completely normal and you should hear it. Its the ABS self test/prime. You should hear it at start up and at 15mph.

ABS Prime/Test...oh ok, was not sure.

None of my other vehicles with ABS do this, that I can tell, but ok.

Yes is does happen when starting out say 3-5 mph and again around 15, so I can relax a bit.

Thanks a bunch, that definately had me worried.

other cars with ABS have different ways - but they all self test on startup-
I recall that bmw had a flashing triangle light on dash on starting - then you tap the brakes- it does its test and the light stops- then ok to drive

Because the TL has TCS/ABS built into one module. The 6 speed does not have TCS. The connections are different in the wire harness. I could have gotten it to work im sure, but i dont mind not having it.
