Thats the evap canister. Its a semi common thing on the TL, most noticeable in the cold months. You can replace it (the part is like 60 bucks) if it it gets to you but nothing is wrong.

Its part of the fuel system. Look under the car by the rear tire where the noise is coming from. Look for the larger (shoe box size black container). Thats what needs to be replaced.

No, not usually. (Usually when bad enough it will throw a code) They have been known to be noisy. Mine has been doing it since the day i bought it (on and off and only in the winter) the dealer (2 different ones) said there is no need to replace it unless it really bothers you.

It doesn't happen often enough that Id replace if it's not messing up anything.

Just rev the engine in Park or Neutral when you hear it when the car comes back to idle the ticking should stop. I've only really noticed this noise in the winter months and both of my TL's do it.

I told the service secretary and she knew of the issue, she said leave it (the valve)alone most Tls do it when its cold out. She said it will be like two hundred to fix.
