I have a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL with 185000 miles on it and the SRS light on the dash has been with me for about two years, so I decided to make the attempt to resolve the issue. AI was a good help but not always accurate with the information it provided, so double and triple check and when ordering parts be sure to use the VIN number. I replaced the driver side seat buckle. Purchased a code reader to reset, which I've done multiple times, and it kept coming back.
There are two SRS lights on the dash and the main one that is for the steering wheel was my issue as the side air bag light never came on. My belt retractor was weak, so I ordered one from a salvage yard that was filthy but after I cleaned it looked OK but had nothing to do with the SRS as the 1999 to 2001 did not have the yellow connector or any connector at all. When I cleared the codes, the light would stay off for a day then return. Finally, the light has been off for three weeks but after reading the threads I'm just not sure if it will stay off. No sure if this has anything to do with the light staying off, but my check engine light came on so I removed the battery ground for five minutes and the check engine light stayed off and the SRS light didn't come back on. Now I'll wait and see and keep you posted.
