SRI problem w/ 99TL HELP!

Hi,

I installed the SRI last night, and while I was installing it, i noticed there's a small radiator like thing inside my stock airbox and filled with coolant. I unhooked the 2 pipes that were connected to it and managed to let the coolant circult back to throttle body area (the 2 pipes that were connecting the radiator thing were coming out underneth the throttle body). I would like to know if im doing the right thing or i need to hook up that radiator thing? Right now i do smell some chemical kinda stuff coming out the engine bay, and I'm having a hard time starting up the motor. Some suggestions please!!!!! Thanks

Re-routing the coolant hose is the right thing to do. The stock air box, including the mini-radiator, gets removed.

I have a '99 and installed a Comptech Icebox. The only place coolant could be coming from is one of the places underneath the TB. Are you sure there's not some kind of blockage in the intake path somewhere? I imagine that could cause hard starting.

Just thought of this, and I'm not busting on you, if the filter that came with your CAI had a clear plastic wrapping (like Saran Wrap) around it, did you remember to remove it?

Thanks for clearifying my concern about the mini-radiator, and yes i did remove the wrapping. Is there anyother reason that can cause my car having hard time starting?

not really, just make sure all your hoses are connected properly and your vacuum hoses are on the intake and you should be fine there - now it could be a battery problem or something like that...

I agree with ou sig. There are 2 hoses that get removed from the OEM intake that have to be re-attached to the CAI.
