Spark plug torque specification issue

So, I called Ngk and asked them a bunch of questions. One being what is the torque specifications. Since we were talking about my 2002 Acura TLS I figured the rep would give me the correct specifications. I see in my manual and on here that the torque for these are only at 13ftlbs of torque or 156inlbs. Whereas the Ngk rep said it is 18-23ft lbs which is grossly higher than that of what Acura calls for. Since I figured it was their spark plug they would know what to set it . I torqued it to 18 ftlbs no antisieze. What should i do? Loosen them to proper Acura spec? Leave them alone?

Leave it alone. You've set the crush washer. If you've done any damage it's in the past now. Taking it back out is not going to undo the damage. As a matter of fact it could make it worse by removing them bc you could pull the damaged threads out with the plugs (if it is indeed simi stripped).

This is what I don't understand? If one uses a torque wrench on a plug with antiseize, how can one over torque a plug if the torque wrench will tell you to stop at the set torque value?

Thank you.
From what I've read the antisieze gives the spark plug lubrication and so the torque changes due to it being lubricated. Antisieze on has changed the Metal on metal torque value so the wrench doesn't know the accurate value.

What I dont understand is they are a spark plug company, they should know what specs every car needs and tell the consumer the proper torque. I told them the manual says 13ftlbs and they said 18ftlbs is minimum. Ugh so frustrated now.

5lbs over is not much. That's like pressure from one finger.

use anti-seize in a limited amount- not going to mess up the torque, and will make them easy to install.... and remove again in several years

NOT TRUE for any NGK plug that already has a thread plating.

from NGK:
"For spark plugs with special metal plating simply do not use anti-seize on initial
Installation; All NGK Spark Plugs are manufactured with a special trivalent Zinc-chromate shell plating that is designed to prevent both corrosion and seizure to the cylinder head; Thus eliminating the need for any thread compounds or lubricants."
