spark plug problem

so had nothing to do today so figured i'd do some maintenance. cleaned the k&n, cleaned egr ports, seafoamed, and then went to change the sparkplugs and hit a brick wall. 5 of them came out no problem at all (even the back passenger one wasnt too rough) but i cannot for the life of me get the left front one out. the socket will not go on to the hex part of the sparkplug so when i put it down there it feels like it just sits on top of it and spins and spins. when i shine a flashlight down there, it looks as though there is a buncha crud build up. no check engine light, the current plug has been in for few years and have not had any problems with misfiring or anything like that. what should i do?

get some carb cleaner or penetrating oil down there and let it soak over night. Fill it up, let it break up all the crud in there.

I did spray a little in there earlier with no luck. I didn't let it sit that long though, kinda had me worried. I will give it another shot and fill it up and let it sit over night.

Can you (carefully) get a pick or small screwdriver down in there to break it up?
