Just in case you need a new tranny again. I'll suggest going back to the Acura dealership to buy the rebuilt replacement tranny. It's expensive, but at least they know what they are doing. Acura designed the crappy tranny. They tried and finalized all the different versions of fixes to their crappy tranny. Only they know best of how to fix the crappy tranny.
i think its bc you take it to the track and beat the sh*t out of it. and your planning on taking it back. i wouldn't, waste of time and money, your only gonna run slower and do more damage that what u have now. get it fixed, get warranty, and then take it to the track
it wasnt cause i brought it to the tracks but it only happens if i dont put the e brake on and put it in nutral and let go of the brake than put it in park. other than that it works fine. wen it down gears it go in just fine and everything
I don't think it's abnormal to hear a bang when you take it out of park when you don't have the e-brake set since the car is resting against the parking pawl.......I always set the parking brake on my CLS and never had a problem
i dont know whats wrong with my sh!t but im getting tired of it its been having alot of problems. ima get my transmission checked out by a shop. hopefully i wont have to but another transmission cause i just got it replaces about a year ago.
That's usually the case when a tranny shop doesn't know what the heck is going on with the inherited factory tranny design flaws. So the shop people just go ahead and rebuild the dead tranny with the same type of new replacement parts. So the tranny dies the same way after the replacement parts have worn down the same way just like the original tranny. Good luck.
I also recommend trying to the dealership to see what they tell you. GL
the computer holds the rpm higher and the trans shifts rougher in 1st-2nd the first few minutes of cold start- its part of the engine warm up program.
Once past your neighborhood it should be smooth again
Leaving the house when cold: Change gears only when the car is Stopped completely with foot on brake- then go from R to D5 and wait a second as it engages- then proceed

Might be an O2 sensor- but do the electrical test on them before replacing- they are not cheap iirc- and we have 2- 1 on each side of the cat
Could be what the codes says- low EGR flow- often thats a simple diy of:
remove intake manifold and clean the EGR ports- known to get really dirty by 75k miles
Its not usually the egr valve- but the small ports cast into the manifold that are the actual working area-- to transport some exhaust gasses to intake manifold- its smog equipment

brake shake may be rotors -especially if acura rotors-
or caliper issues are appearing on gen2 cars that never had the brake fluid changed
Thats a critical thing to do - every year- and few take care of it

Occationally my Tranny CLUNKS (99TL) when I put her into Reverse. I back outta my garage every morning. Sometimes it goes into gear quietly and sometimes there's a nice clunk. Others comment on this happening, so it's pretty normal. My Accord did the same thing. The auto tranny on my 91 Accord was still going strong at 260,000 miles. Hopefully my TL's will last that long, but I doubt it.
Hi Tranny Guys;
I talked to my local stealership regarding transmission warranties and he informed me that the 99 4 speed does not have the same mortality rate as the 5 speed and did not get the coverage extension. He went on to say that he owns a 99 and bought it specifically because of the 5 speeds problems. Given that he works in the stealership, you gota believe he knows more than he's telling me.
All I can say is, I'm very glad I bought a 99 and after 113K Kilos, no signs of tranny problems.
smartypants.

"Its fine until the tcs lights on and D5 flashing and the car barely will pull. I have to shut it off and it will be fine until it does it again. Is this a problem? "
Lately, when I start the car in the morning - i have noticed that it has started shifting harder than usual from 1st to 2nd - then seems to be ok after a few blocks.
This morning - it shifted pretty hard - the "D" light was flashing, the TCS & CEL lights came on.
Turned it off - restarted and it drives/shifts just fine (Tranny feels great)
but CEL light is still on.
Tranny was replaced by stealership a few years back - serviced by myself
(Drain/refill x4).
"00" TL bought new 7/10/00
Ideas anyone?
Thanks
