Side mirrors won't go up
Side mirrors won't go up
I have a 2000 TL. On Friday night I turned the passenger side mirror down to see how close I was parking to a curb. I was in a rush so I didn't try to move it back up until I got back in the car the next day. Now neither of my side mirrors will go up.
Any ideas on what the problem could be? I searched and saw plenty of posts about mirrors not going down when in reverse -- that must be a 2001 or 2002 feature since mine don't do that.

humm. thye will move in other directions but up?? id say it sounds like maybe the switch may be bad. have you tried tapping on it at all or something to see if maybe all it needs is a little persuation??
I've tried to hold the switch down in the up position, I've tried to rock the switch a little bit to see if it is a connection issue and I haven't been able to move it. I did have someone try to push the mirror up but he wasn't sure how much pressure was too much. Since three of four directions work it doesn't seem to be a fuse problem. I would worry about the motor except that it seem odd that it is both mirrors at the same time. I rarely move the side mirrors so who knows how long this has been a problem. The switch is my suspect based on logic. Then again, I'm often wrong.
I have similar problem with mo 03-TL-S.. but mine right side passenger mirror is having a hard time going down when i go in reverse.
I think the problem is that the joint needs some sort of lubrication.
It might be really dirty inside the mirror so you might want to spray a lot of water through the mirror gap and then let it dry for a day.
Next day after if drys up, i would try to spray a whole load of WD-40 into the gap so soak the joints, or motor gear, and try to see if your buttons will work then.
I haven't done this yet so don't take my word for it. But its just a thought.

Grasp mirror with both hands firmly and push up hard with your thumbs.
