Shifter Lock!?

Okay, First off I have a 00 SSM TL-P sitting around 115k. So I drive to Alabama from Virginia and im on my way back down I believe it was I-81 south. And I was doing a lot of braking cause of congestion coming down the hill. So I get hungy and stop at Burger King for a meal. I hop back into my TL turn the car on and Try to shift and NOTHING HAPPENS. Im about 7 hours from my house on a freakin SUNDAY. So after worring about it for 20 mins. I eat my food and read the manual and it tell me how to release it.( I felt like a dumbass) But what I read in the manual it says if you need to use this method to release the parking gear you need to take it in to the dealer. I did use the search first. All I seen so far is the braking switch and checking the fuses to make sure the brake lights are on. I get home and go back out to run to the store. And now its working after about 30 mins of sitting. Im thinking its the switch. What do you guys think? And on a scale of 1-10, how hard would it be for me to replace that switch myself? Dont really wanna pay and excess of 100 dollars for a job i can do for just the switch price( I think 30 something bucks) Thanx for all the help in advance.

Most likely the switch, Very easy to do. Unplug it, unscrew it, screw in new one adjust if needed, plug in. under 30 min to do

Thanx fsttyms1. I knew you would have the answer. I thought this might be a common thing but I guess not.

there have been a few to have it go bad. Most have had the dealer replace it.
