I own a 2002 TL-S, wondering if this would be a problem I should have to worry about. On the dash the Shift indicator, The neutral light will not turn on, and can't start the car up when ever you shift up from Drive. But when you Shift from Reverse to Neutral the indictor light turns on, and am able to start the car. Is this a problem that I have to worry about.

Don't you usually start your car in "park" ??

 

Yes, but I sometimes cut the power when going thru a carwash, to get under wiper blades. and i beleive all cars can be started from neutral or park.

 

Have you ever spilled any thing like coffee or soda near the shifter? You may have some sticky contacts in the shifter. You can take out the center console and get to the shifter and clean the contacts.

 

I see no signs that anything has spilled into the shifter.
