Question Shift Indicator Lights

Hi,

Recently bought a used Acura TL 2003 (black on black!).

I was wondering if their may be a switch that turns the shift indicator lights on (on the wooden console not the dash)??? I ask because at night they cease to come on except on occasion.

btw did a search before posting.

Thanks.

It should light up. If it doesnt there is a light bulb under the trim panels (if you pull up on the outer ring first, then pop off the silver shift gate and move it enough to pull the clear cover off (the part under where the prn54321 sits) there is a light bulb under that. A tweezers or small needle nose pliers will pull the bulb out

I just bought my TL about six months ago and didn't realize that there even was a light in there. Thanks to the forums it was an easy fix. FYI you can do this without pulling your dash apart. Per fsttyms1 instructions pull off the trim ring, then take of the shift display cover and finally the letters themselves. There's a light diffuser under that. Take it out. Use the tweezers or needle nose pliers to pull it out and replace. It really easy. It uses a wedge type lamp. You can find them at just about any parts store. Mines works great now.

No no no, they are talking about the selector, the gear shift, where it says along the left hand side PRN54321, and even the + and - lights up at night. It's not on the dash... we're talking about the actual gearshift labels on the center pedestal where the shifter is.

I have a 99 TL and the gear shift indicator does light up. I removed a # 74 14V 1.4W bulb and replaced it with a Sylvania of the same volt and wattage. It didn't work (the bottom of this bulb appeared to be a little shorter that the one I removed). Next, I used an Eiko 74 12V (pkg doesn't give watts). The cost was $3.70. It works.

2001 CL Shift Indicator

Anyone know the part# for the bulb? I recently bought my CL and the bulb was missing. Also anyone know the best way to remove the tray holding the seat heaters?

Lastly, anyone have a steering wheel to sell. Leather on mine is pretty deteriorated and would lke to replace it.

Thank you
