Hey all,
Getting a good shake/shudder during harder acceleration from 60 -80 kms per hour.
No hesitation noticed, and smooths out perfectly after passing 80. No problem anywhere below or above that speed range.
Not felt with light acceleration or while cruising without accelerating.
I had my tires checked, all good there.
I'm thinking axle...but wonder why that would not cause the symptom constantly ?
thanks....Mike

Replace both axles with new units from Autozone or Napa.
I have done axles with both brands and no issues.
I have also dealt with rebuilt ones and they are junk, dont bother.
Make sure everything else is in good condition such as half shaft tie rods and ball joints

Try rotating the tires and make sure that the wheel's lug nuts are properly torqued. Check for a bad wheel bearing or any worn suspension components. Sometimes tires and rims lose their balance as they are subjected to abuse of the road conditions.
If in any doubt, take the car to an alignment shop for a free evaluation to verify concerns.
"ROONEY" ???

yeah- sounds like cv joint/axle bearings to me too, you can listen with a mechanics stethoscope with car on the rack, movement test them on jack, or trust us and get NEW ONLY- NOT rebuilt!!!! axles as noted by everyone above
Most of them know the symptoms and now have new axles for a reason~
roughly 100 U$D each last I knew== anyone with a current price
did you look at the rubber boots on each end of the axles? if broken/tear in rubber boots/covers = the bearings inside are toasted roasted and done for

the other problem in that area is the bearing for the hub where the wheel attaches
trying to remember which symptoms for each prob- one has vibes at low speed and the other higher or was it 1 is inner bearing,,,
brain is full- purged useless facts
an alignment shop can help you

Great input all, thanks. I was reading plenty of threads on similar issues, but there seems to be no one clear answer, and some owners say they have never solved it ! Worry...
I'll be in the shop soon for a front brake job. Nearly 5 years since the last one. Thank goodness for highway miles ! I'll get the axles etc all checked out .
Always something eh ?

have the axles diagnosed- other problems found BEFORE the brake work!!
call and tell the shop about the shake and get it inspected and parts ordered if needed
much of the labor is doubled up/ combined labor = they have to remove brakes to replace axle- so throwing some new parts in as its reassembled is less $$ than if done all by itself, or having to come back and pay labor again because the parts were not avail that day

I'm taking it in to the shop Friday am. Going to try a couple simple things first, like rotate my tires back to their original position. They'll check the other suspects too while it's there.
This may have started when I recently had a tire rotation. I'm a bit foggy on when, but it definitely wasn't there prior to that.
Hate mysteries.

Final update to this one....sorry to all who were getting anxious waiting and waiting....
Right axle was replaced and sh sh sh shakin is gone.
Found it without too much investigation while the front brakes were getting done.
Thanks to all for their helpful input.
