Question Seat Warmers

Both my seat warmers stopped working at the same time last spring. Fuse is OK and the indicator lights on the switches come on. Passenger seat is unoccupied 90% of time.

Acura dealer said both elements had burned out - replacement cost $900+

Mid summer the temperature outside hit +30C and warmers started working intermittently. Stopped with cooler weather. With -30C a few months away I'd like a fix.

Is there a connector that may have come loose, or some sort of overheat sensor that needs replacing?

unfortunately its the warmers. They are known to wear out. you can do a search, one member was able to fix them by replacing the burned out wire in the seat. Other wise you can buy the warmer and replace it yourself for far cheaper

wow, that is not cheap at all!! When I first purcahsed my car, I didn't know that I couldn't leave it on high forever, so I did and messed up my seat warmers. Was still under warrenty, so they fixed it for free. They charged $600 something. $900 is just a ridiculous price. Good luck with the fix

The HI position is to warm the seats quickly then you switch to lo
The HI position is protected by an overheat sensor and will turn off itself, then reset and resume once cooled off
If working properly, there is no way to drive with it on HI for more than a few minutes

The low position has a built in on/off temp sensor that keeps the temp warm and does not run constantly

Like Kris said- search for- fixed my seat for $3

It looks like an old electric blanket with the wires under the seat cover
You get a broken wire and the whole thing shuts down
Look for the burned spot and cut the wire- make a jumper wire, seal and put back together

Note driver seat gets lumbar and butt heat
Passenger only gets butt- side airbag issue with that seat

I didnt know the driver seat had lumbar heat. I guess mine just doesnt work. My seat heaters take forever to warm up and my driver one gets too damn hot lol.

You turn the setting to HIGH for about 2 minutes and its roasty- then turn it to low and leave it on without concern

If you know what hog ring pliers are- you can do this job
Read up on removing the seats to avoid SRS mishaps/lights and pull the seat, remove clips, strip leather cover off, there it is looking at you saying- put the wallet in the center console~ sit straight in the seat, loooooooose weight~~~~~
