Question Rough idle but only on a hot engine

So like i said rough idle at start up but ONLY when the engine is hot and stopped for about 20 -30 min. Starting it engine shudder tcs light came on and gone and the srs give it a little gas and everything is ok no code nothing nada!Right after it happens stopped the engine and restarded it everything fine, happens twice this week just wondering if it could be coolant sensor or idle control valve sure thing is its a heat related prob always happened in city driving with a lead foot so a shit load of heat is building of under the hood so if anyone as seen such prob keep me in touch. Thx in advance guys

lol funnies

my 99, last night leaving the shakers, i was idling for like bout 25-30 min, and my brake light come on, tcs and another red light, all on the left side of the gauge....so i turn off the car. wait 5 secs, start again, no light, then i pull out, make a left and goin 80 kph, and it wasnt switching into 3rd, switched over to tip tronic to see, still in 4th, then after bout 10 secs, of being in 3rd at 2700-300 rpm, it switched...didnt do it again any more thru the night.....

in the past few weeks when it starts shifting up in gears, it would slightly over rev, then switch, be4 switching...like about couple hundred rpm....is that was slippage is or what...me scared.

I've had the same problem the last two weeks. It only happens to me when the engine is hot (i.e. stopping at the store to pick up something). I've got a 2000 TL. When it happens, the engine would start, shake for a second or two and then stop. One time I had to restart it 5 times and give it some gas before it would stay.

Sorry. Forgot to indicate that. No code whatsoever. The check engine light didn't even stay on! At least if it did, I could have figure out the problem from the code.

Now I'm hesitant to even drive my car out!

Delirium...so I'm a bit confused. You fixed the EGR and the IAC and now the problem is gone?

Any hints on how I can do this myself? Or should I be taking it to the shop and telling them that's what I need fixed?

The egr cleaning is a different procedure from the 99 to the 00-03. If you do a search for it you will find a few diy's on how to clean the egr ports. the iac is mounted to the TB and can easily be replaced. All of this is a DIY

I am having the same problem with my 2000TL (75k miles) "Rough idle at start up but ONLY when the engine is hot and stopped for about 20 -30 min - like going to a store and starting the car again".

When this happens, the engine vibrates as if it is giving up but when I step on the gas it comes to life in a minute. This happens about 3-4 times a week, but didnt get the engine check light in the past until last week. When I took the car to the dealer, the mechanic said it was because the battery was supplying low voltage. I dont understand, as I replaced my battery a year ago. What do you guys think is happening? Could it be the battery?

Pardon my ignorance,
-StockTL
