replacing PCM on 02 TLS
replacing PCM on 02 TLS
If I get a used PCM from a 02 TLS ( Same model and year) besides synching the old keys to the new pcm ( I have a programmer for keys) do I need to have the dealer do anything?
Will the swap and key reprogram be all I need to do?
Thanks
Ian

This is what I know currently,
I went on line to a acura parts site and found the part number for the PCM for the 02 tls. the updated pcm ended in 52. then I found a PCM with the same numbers on EBay for $40 delivered.
I am going to install, fast and easy 5 plugs and two bolts. front carpet on left and right on hump below and behind stereo.
There is a idle procedure. to be performed after the keys have been programmed.
My hope is that the cheap swap will solve the car going into limp mode. Transmission shop said it was the PCM that had a failure.
Once its done and fixed I will report.

Found PCM and had it replaced. Had coil misfires and solenoid shift codes from transmission. I have the manual and am looking which solenoids to replace. I probably should have the solenoid plug connections checked first.
We will see. PCM was cheap on ebay and quick swap minus key reprogram.

Good news! the issues was found to be another coil issue. I only replaced the one failed coil and funny enough that coil failed.
Replaced coil and reset codes everything runs like brand new.
Since coils are so easy yo replace there are 4 more in the trunk. testing is simple. unplug them one by one. the one that doesn't cause the car to run rougher or want to stall is the bad coil.
replace and it will run like a brand new car.
this acura has 262K and running strong.
