Buy the new o rings for the pump, Take the pump back out and install them. Over tightening the belt will cause this to happen pretty easy

Hey Twill220, So you replaced your original PS pump with another used one that also whined.
Just curious, had you tried putting the new o-rings on the old one before swapping it ?

finally...

yes i did try to rebuild the original pump, bought the repair kit that came with o-rings and a seal. however, i ran into some trouble trying to get the locking pin back in. so i bought the used one and installed it. it still whined, so i replaced the o-ring where the res. hose goes to pump. prior to that, the pressure hose from p/s was leaking and had to be replaced...napa n autozone wanted 200, found it at rockauto for 93 including shipping. took me awhile to finally have it fixed the right way because i'm having back problems. but thanks again to the acurazine family....

Yeah, replacing the hose probably took a toll on ya. Good to hear ya got it fixed, sure hope you're feeling better when the next DIY opportunity comes knocking. Definitely a challenge, but saving some bucks and the satisfaction of resolving it yourself helps lessen the pain !

I need to replace my Oring also, but it looks like a pain to get off. Is a swivel socket the best way to get to that little bolt?
