Replaced Both Driveshaft Assemblies

I have an '02 Type S with 68K miles. My transmission was replaced when the car had approximately 13K miles. I recently had a problem with strong vibration while accelerating between 45 and 60 mph. I recently had a rotation and balancing done, so I thought they may have screwed something up. Took it back in, they did the balancing again, still had the problem. The tech told me that he thought the driveshaft assembly on the left side was bad.

Since I originally bought the Acura 100K warranty, I decided to take it back to the dealer. To make a long story shorter, it seems that both the left and right driveshaft assemblies needed to be replaced.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this possibly related to the transmission problems a lot of us have had - in some cases, multiple times?

FYI - the service at my dealership (Ed Voyles Acura in Atlanta) couldn't have been better - as always. They gave me a fairly new TL to drive (3K miles), and when they found out what the problem was, they told me to keep it until the parts arrived and were installed. Took about a week to get it done. Back when I had my tranny replaced, they sent me next door to their rental car partner (Enterprise) for a free loaner. I told them that since I was driving a TL, I didn't want to end up in an Escort for a week or two. They hooked me up with a Maxima SE, so the ride/performance were fairly comparable.

Let me know if you've had the driveshaft problem.

Its not related to the tranny problem we have (unles you had it floored and it slipped between shifts and really really slammed into gear, and i still doubt it would cause that)

Was the vibration from side to side? I had my axles replace on my car. The inner cv joint was worn and it had a awkward Side-to-Side shake upon acceleration.

No - it was very similar to the type of vibration you'd get if your wheels weren't balanced, only much more shake and vibration than you might normally feel due to a balancing problem. It almost felt like the wheels were trying to come off.

Ed Voyles is pretty good. The last loaner I got from them was an 06 TSX-Navi. They've always given me new Acura cars.

So was it the axle? I'm having the same issue now also. Vibration under heavy accelaration.
