rear brakes

If the burning smell is constant, and the center of one wheel is hot to the touch after a drive, you have a sticking brake caliper.
Sticking calipers result in rapid pad wear, so expect to buy new ones.
If both wheels are equally cool, it might be something else. Sometimes road salt on the exhaust can cause owners to think they are "burning rubber".

ck the pads and rotors--thats simple
2mm pad thickness remaining and they are immediate garbage can material
Pad wear even on all pads? one not the same points to a problem
rotor wear even, no rust on half the width of inner side rear rotor?
Many makers use wrong backing plate for TL, has 3 raised tabs, and makes pad run crooked!! only touched half width of rotor
the wheel hub bearing may be bad-get any humming type noise from rear, in motion?
burning smell- may be stuck caliper causes pads to fry
get out the jack and take a look

Besides sticking calipers, also check for sticking parking brakes.

thats a good point
the park brakes are a mini set of drum brakes inside the rear rotors
they have a self-adjuster just like any old school drum brake
No one takes the rotors off to clean and service those parts-because the pad wear is good= so look no further!!,,,and they gung up
I heard the brake cable can ice up under a cover/connector behind brake
bad weather/salt roads people should ck that out..something about a cover,,,

Also if the wheel spins freely it may not be the brakes. It may be a wheel bearing.
