Question Rattling sound from front end

I have a 2003 Tl-S with about 115k. When I go over bumps or drive on a road that isn't smooth, there is a rattling noise coming from the front end. It's hard to tell which side it's coming from, but seems almost like it's from the left-center. It happens when I go over bumps with either tire, the front left or right. Ball joints, axles, tie rods are all fine. Shocks looked alright too. Someone mentioned it may be the struts. It almost sounds like something is loose, but I couldn't find anything that was. Would worn struts cause a rattling sound like this? If I end up having to replace the struts, which brand and/or place to get them from would be the best to go with? Thanks.

Check the sway bar end links and replace with Moog brand.
Check the motor mounts-especially the vacuum controlled front & rear mounts. Having bad motor mounts makes it sound like the whole dash board is loose and slamming up & down.

It will most likely be one of these if the suspension seems tight otherwise.

Hmmm if it was suspension. You would eable to push down on the left side by hand going up and down you would beable to hear noise. Buy it sound like it would be a loose bolt or maby sumthing stuck like a tool or something of sort.

I have the same problem. It sounds like a metal on metal rattle. Like blaine said, almost as if a tool was stuck in there.

I'm going to take a good look when I rotate my tires see if I see anything.

It's your steering rack!!! I've had this problem for way longer than I care to admit and it was a very simple fix. I took my TL to a Honda dealership recently and one of the techs mentioned that Honda Odysseys had an issue with loose bolts on the steering rack. I had them take a look and ask the tech to tighten those bolts holding the steering rack in-place and I'm much happier with my car overall now!!!

I used to hear a popping sound in my passenger wheel-well while taking slower corners and in parking lots. Going up hills slowly and maneuvering around would pop pretty often too. This finally fixed the issue.

Let me know if this does it for you.

I'll have to check that out. Unfortunately, all the other suggestions listed above didn't help the problem. Of course it had to be something uncommon, but I'll definitely see if that helps and I'll get back to you, thanks.

I had the same problem in my 02 tl! It was making noise when I first bought it used. Whoever had it before didn't put the front swaybar D-brackets on so it was just hanging there by the endlinks. Might wanna check that

2008 tl type S with 48,700 miles. Never damaged. When driving over any bumps, there is a rattle underneath that sounds like an exhaust pipe is loose. After extensive searching for weeks, I finally took it to the Acura dealer, and was told it was the steering rack bushings that have worn causing the rattle. I was told part is 700.00 and the labor 7.5 hours for another 700.00. Sounds very high to me. Any thoughts ?

i had that sound it was my license plate bolts in the front. i recommend checking those and getting ones that fit completely over the license plates holes.

Is this an easy fix for my mechanic? Or would it cost me a bunch to diagnose/fix. I have the same issues, 03' TL with 137,000 miles. Just redid the entire suspension 6 months ago, and everything was fine, until recently when I heard the same noise going over slight bumps!

Please advise...

Welcome Shintkd !!!
For better assistance, check with the 3rd Gen Forum (2004>2008).
You're presently posted in the 2nd Gen's Forum.

The rattling noise problem should not be overly difficult to figure out on the rear.
It's more than likely something loose or improperly installed if the noise wasn't there before.
