Exclamation Radio Help

This has annoyed me for the longest time ever. So my security went off. And it was honking And stuff, so I locked And unlocked the car. Yet that didn't help. I was driving with a screwdriver at hand to change to park and drive and reverse until I wedged something into it to make it change without the screwdriver. And My radio stopped working. I've tried the hood latch sensor as best as I could. And stuff like that. I want to avoid the dealer at all costs because that's too expensive.

Edit:it stopped honking

Say what??? Maybe it's just me, but I read this three times and have no idea what you are trying to say or need help with..........

You need help with the radio because you are shifting the transmission with a screwdriver and the alarm went off.

Nooooo lol. When the alarm (I'm not gonna explain BECAUSE I'm quite sure you know what happens) but that caused the radio to stop working and to shift, there's a little slot. You put a flat head in it or another key, press down and you manually change the gear to what ever you need. I've been driving like that for a whil until I wedges something into that slot so it presses it down at all times. But My main problem is. My radio doesn't work anymore. I've tried everything and searched every forum and site.

That's a little better. Is the radio asking for a code or doesn't it light up at all?

you have to use a screwdriver to get it out of Park into Drive-
that's either a brake light is out and the warning system is working!! (ck every brake light bulb) or you have a bad neutral safety switch
that's the part you are overriding with the screwdriver press- to its release button

Thinking the brake switch related to the problem shifting gears. See if this thread helps - https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...switch-614710/

start with the radio fuse if it doesn't light up at all
then the relay. swap those with others of same color/rating to test

guessing you are recent owner of the TL? free owner book download from acura Acura Owners Site | Exclusive Knowledge, Service, & Benefits

do you have the radio and nav security codes? once we find power issue you need them to make it work again
What work has been done recently?

How would I fix the neutral safety switch?

just about all we know how to do is located in the DIY section, 4th item down main gen2 TL thread list- where you start after sign in
the 2 threads in it have all the links to threads on here

ck the brake switch for looseness at mounting screw behind brake pedal, or wear out (no brake lights!)
the neutral safety switch will also be in the diy- but the brake switch is much easier to replace so lets hope for that!

some years have a separate switch for cruise control disconnect with braking,
others use 1 switch for both
does your cruise work now?

The major thing is, is that everything worked fine before the security alarm went off. I mean cruise worked, radio worked, etc. When the alarm goes off several things stop working. And thats what doesnt work anymore.

and tail lights still work. I can't get outside because a have a virus and its raining... sooo....

Understand everything was working prior to the alarm going off, we are trying to help diagnose and fix it with you. Just need full details to help us help you.
So does the cruise work now, or is that out as well?

Check all your fuses, especially #8 in the driver's side underdash fuse panel. That one is common to the shift interlock and the radio. The panel is on the left end of the dash. There is a panel on the right side of the dash as well as 1 or more under the hood. The owner's manual shows them.

taillights are NOT the same as brake lights!
Now that I read more symptoms that changes things

the part about A long time- of using something STUFFED into the neutral switch,,,could that generate/cause excess power to that low amp fuse?

electrical is not my forte' BUT we have some really smart people here that can walk you thru it- when you are feeling better
it will require going outside to the car and some testing of 12volt circuits, a multi meter or inexpensive test light should be in everyone's tool kit

has any water gotten in drive door panel- thru heavy rains? or open door while raining and switches got wet?
there is a multiplex something that runs a bunch of electrical inside the driver door

Any Beverage/Soda/Water gotten spilled in the cup holder area? some sensitive things under there as well

Trying to think outside the norm as this is an unusual problem
all the alarm fuse relay etc have been tested?

Check both 12v Accessory socket (cigarette lighter) For any metal pieces left in it or phone charger that may be faulty causing a blown fuse.
