Radiator?

Radiator?
I have a strange issue...
Whenever I come to a stop at an intersection or something, I'll use the brake pedal to come to a complete stop. Once the car has stopped, I can hold the brake pedal there to keep the car stopped. However, the radiator fan usually turns on at this point, and it will give the car enough force to overpower the brakes and the car will inch forward. Obviously, I just press the brakes a little harder to stop the car again.
When the radiator fan comes on, the dash actually dims as if it were losing power. Also, the radiator is very loud.
I have no overheating problems, or any other car problems for that matter. What could the problem be?

you mean: you have no Guage indication of temp prob
ck rad level cold- and res bottle
Doesnt need to have fan every time you stop for a minute
might be coolant temp sensor failing
go to parts store for a full charging system test
clean batt terminal connections first~

Radiator fan or AC compressor. The Radiator fan will not cause that surge, but the AC compressor kicking in will (and creates more noise than the fan) and has been asked many times before which is normal to do what you are asking

Thanks for the info. I'll test it out with AC on/off next time I drive. Glad to know it's nothing to worry about (hopefully).
Is it also normal for the car to actually overpower the brakes? I've always felt that was strange, and I don't think it has always been doing that.

just at idle when the brake booster vac is low and the extra engine rpm suprises you when defrost/ac kicks on
if the car will drive away with brakes on--thats a problem!

Exactly, friesm2000. It only happens when I'm on the edge between full stop and inching forward. Obviously, when the AC compressor makes the car inch forward, I just press the brakes a tad bit further.
Thanks for the explanation Tom. I'll read into it. Either way, I don't consider it a problem if it doesn't slow down my car.
