Question about HIDEXTRA HID fitting.

First of all this site is great, have troubleshooted everything on this car through here!!!

Car is a 2002 tl type a

Anyways I just replaced the with hidextra standard(not slim or whatever optioned there where) d2r 6000k hids. Beautiful lights. Now a few questions on how I did it and what you guys think about it... As you know the oem ballasts have a type of seal over the wiring in the headlight encasement, is it important to cover this back over with something? Will moisture eventually get in and ruin it? I put the new ballasts right over it but there is about a half inch clearance for the wiring to sneak out and attach. Did get it screwed in to the original spot, though only one screw

Second I spliced the original connector to the low beams and put the correct connection to it and capped it. Was there a better way?

Guys have any input on if I should change something is appreciate it!

Thinking about the next owner as I'm planning within 6 months to upgrade to a third gen tl .

Next thing on my list is the damn armrest lock and the odometer backlighting..

Oh ya any place to get more bumper clips? I destroyed a few :p.

the light needs a vent as it gets very hot inside
as long as the hole is on the lower end....no sweat
the old problem was water from leaking lens seal dripping from the vent onto the ballast- killing it

new ballast is waterproof
locate it on frame rail if desired
use #14-16 female waterproof wire connectors on car side of wire splice
new part came with male fittings
use shrink wrap tube over connection,,,, or an abundance of electrical tape
not duck or similar- real black electical tape to waterproof that connection

when you say capped wire--with house type wire connectors?
those are not approved for car use!
do use butt/inline for solid connection, or match the spade ones on new part for slip together fit

Welcome Zeus13 !!!
If ya had good luck with using the site in the past to resolve problems, then try checking out some past threads on the odo and armrest.
They both have been common issues and the fixes are here within somewhere.

I'm not sure the original OEM light setup had any venting to the housing. The ballast was screwed to the bottom of the housing with a rubber gasket between them that sealed that big round hole. Yet I got water in one of my housing from washing down the inside of the engine compartment. Only time I've ever had any water in a housing.

Now, after the HIDextra install, I have one side with big hole sealed and the other side is open. Have not seen any difference yet, but it has not rained any either.

its not an issue with the hidextra kit,,put it together and leave open or gorilla tape over

water usually gets in thru bad seal on lens to housing, drips out bottem onto ballast, killing it
hard to imagine it getting in from engine washing--maybe sprayed the headlight lens from outside the car??
